NAAC Congratulates Election of the New President of Albania

Washington, DC (July 26, 2007) - The National Albanian American Council offers its congratulations to the Albanian Parliament for electing the new President of Albania, and further we congratulate President-elect Mr. Bamir Topi. The election of the new President is an important step forward for Albania’s ascension into the Europe-Atlantic organization, NATO and the European Union. The election of a new President, and thereby averting a constitutional crisis, was welcomed by the Albanian American community. By electing the new President, Albania sends a very strong message that it is ready to join NATO in 2008 and the European Union shortly thereafter. “NAAC views the election of the new President is as an opportunity for the all political parties to work together to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Albania to join Euro-Atlantic organizations.” As the new President-elect, Mr. Topi has a unique opportunity to unify all political party’s to serve the people of Albania.
