NAAC Congratulates the Formation of the New Kosova Government
Washington, DC (January 11, 2008) - The National Albanian American Council (NAAC) congratulates the Democratic Party of Kosova (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosova (LDK) for agreeing to form the new Kosova government. We congratulate President Fatmir Sejdiu on his reelection, Mr. Hashim Thaci as the new Prime Minister and all the new Ministers on their respective posts. We wish them all success!
The fact that elections were free and fair, again, and that a new coalition government was formed, is yet another clear indication that Kosova, its people and it leaders are truly ready to manage their own free and independent state. We call upon all member states of the European Union, the United States and all nations belonging to the UN to recognize Kosova’s independence as soon as it is declared. Kosova’s independence is the only viable solution for security and economic development in Southeast Europe.
The new Kosova government has the immediate challenge of securing Kosova’s imminent independence and then working towards integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. We are confident that the new leadership will be dedicated to serving the needs of all its peoples and making the transition period as smooth and as short as possible. Additionally, we call upon the oppositional political party’s to remain engaged constructively to ensure that democracy continues to flourish in Kosova
